LBCC Women’s Soccer team end their season with a 1-0 loss when they visited East L.A. College on Thursday Nov. 15. They faced off the Huskies in the Southern California Regional playoffs.

LBCC played an intensive game. Goal Keeper Jeanette DeAnda accomplishes 10 saves in goal. Jeanette DeAnda was selected South Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

“Overall, I’m very proud of our team,” Co-Head Coach Alex Camargo said. “We had our chances, but didn’t take advantage of putting the ball in the back of the net. Our goalkeeper and defense was very solid and consistent all game.”

The Vikings were seeded eighteenth when they played South Coast Conference rival East L.A. College.

The 90-minute play was not enough for any of the two teams to score a goal and had to play overtime with two 15-minute periods.

Huskies sophomore forward  Leslie Rivera scored the game’s winning goal five minutes after overtime began.

LBCC ended the 2012 season with an 11-6-4 overall record and ranked third in the South Coast Conference at 7-3-4. Vikings are making their third straight playoff appearance and has qualified to the postseason in 13 of the past 14 years.

LBCC has won a record of six California Community College state championship.

“I put in my best efforts. I believe as a team we couldn’t play like we usually do and it was really tough to get the ball this time around,” Forward Paola Alonso said, “I’m very thankful for our coaches this year who helped a lot.”

Thursday’s playoff game was the third time the two teams faced one another in South Coast Conference.

LBCC and East Los Angeles tied on a previous meet Sept. 25 and Vikings defeated the Huskies 1-0 on Oct. 19. For more information people may
