Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton may visit LBCC for a campaign rally in the Hall of Champions Gymnasium, at the LAC on Monday, June 6, at 4 p.m., the college announced in an email late Friday afternoon to students and employees.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reported the visit has not been officially scheduled, due to a lack of confirmation from Arielle Green, press secretary for Hillary for California.

But according to the mass email sent by LBCC, the event is open to the public and the doors will open at 2 p.m.

Students and employees will have to make adjustments to parking and access to Lot P between the gym and tennis courts. Staff Parking Lots K and L will be closed. LBCC communications staff suggested staff park in the J parking structure or in Lot M by Veterans Stadium.

The email suggested students and employees arrive early for classes and work and plan for congestion and traffic due to the event with increased police activity during a time of the year when everyone is preparing for finals, graduations and transferring and planning for the next semester.

Alejandro Lomeli, 21, Associated Student Body Student Trustee said, “Having a presidential candidate come onto our campus is huge! The national recognition we’ve been receiving regarding the Long Beach College Promise and now the rallies by presidential candidates only solidifies the reputation that Long Beach City College is one of the best colleges in the nation.”

The event is just one day before the primary election on Tuesday, June, 7, when voters choose either Sen. Bernie Sanders or Clinton as the Democratic presidential nominee.
