Several students and faculty were deprived of water, use of restrooms and cafeteria in the GG Building due to the building’s water being shut off at the PCC on the morning of Tuesday, May 3.
“I feel sad because I can’t get any food because the cafeteria is closed,” said Elizabeth Pureco, 22, a mediology major. “It sucks because there’s a lot of students that want to use the facilities but we can’t because it’s closed.”
As of Wednesday, May 4, the issue had not been resolved.
While the restrooms and cafeteria are closed, the seating area and main offices remain open. In order to compensate for the closing of the cafeteria, The Grilled Cheese Truck was stationed in parking lot 3 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for one day on Wednesday, May 4, according to an email sent by communications.
In an email, associate director of public relations and marketing for LBCC, Stacey Toda, revealed that facilities informed that “there is a leak in the main water valve at the GG building. They are in the process of fixing it now.”
Communications director John Pope said, “We apologize for the inconvenience and for the cafeteria. We’re currently working on this issue and hope to get is resolved as quickly as possible.”
Financial aid advisor Dara Alvarez said, “It’s quite inconvenient, considering Building GG is a two level building and there’s no restrooms or water accessible.”
Alvarez also said, “It would be nice to have quicker access to people that can resolve the issue rather than wait for somebody to come fix it. They should have someone on staff or have a company to come fix it faster.”
