LBCC’s music department is hosting the 25th scholarship concert March 26 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Students from five classes will perform concerts with different ensembles from classical to jazz.
The annual event is a scholarship fundraiser for music majors and 100 percent of funds go back to the students. Five premier ensembles will perform three to four numbers each, showcasing a potpourri of music to let people know what LBCC offers musically.
Ensembles will include Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Big Band, Daytime Vocal Jazz, Viking Singers and Wind Ensemble. Pianist Piotr Fraszczynski, an LBCC student who just got accepted to Cal State Fullerton will be playing a movement from a Beethoven sonata.
Director of choral studies Skye Angulo said LBCC presents these concerts every year. Usually they take place in the Fall, but this year, the department decided to have it in the Spring to try and generate a larger audience.
“We have a fantastic faculty here,” Angulo said. “Last Friday, we had the Classical Voice Faculty recital. We are performing all the time.”
