Students are able to save money using their current college ID at several local businesses and at other locations through LBCC’s cashier’s office.
The college service card or college ID charge for Fall and Spring semesters of $20 supports the Associated Student Body, LBCC’s student government, according to the colleges student life website. Fees also support the athletic program, the Viking newspaper and City magazine, theater arts and the college radio station among others the website lists.
Students with a current semester sticker and ID can use their card for discounts at local eateries, lower cost amusement park tickets and movie tickets.
Shae Fowler, 28, an English major said she has used her card to “buy movies tickets and amusement park tickets” at a discount.
Students with college ID and current activity sticker can visit the cashier office in GG116 at the PCC or in A Building at the LAC to purchase the lower priced tickets. Movie tickets for Regal Entertainment Group theaters can be purchased four at a time and must be paid for in cash. Amusement park tickets for Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain can also be bought at the cashier’s office. Students can use the ID at Cal Bowl 2500 Carson Street, for discounted games during certain days and times.
Pablo Delgado, 18, a business administration major expressed surprise upon hearing about the discounts and services he can get with his card. Delgado said he had “no idea about the services” the card could get him. Delgado said, “I’ll use it at El Pollo Loco, get burritos and everything.” Delgado learned the card allows him to use services at LBCC’s student health services and said, “I will look into it.”
