LBCC’s Performing Arts Department presented the Symphony Concert directed by Marshall Fulbright on Sunday, Oct. 18, in the LBCC Auditorium.

“The concert went extremely well and I am extremely proud of the LBCC Symphony performance,” Fulbright said.

LBCC’s Band Program is one of the largest in the California Community College system and has operated since 1949.

Beach City Symphonic Band is part of the Lifetime Learning Center at LBCC, with members from the college, the community and high school students.

Performing Arts department head Cathy Crane announced many events for this semester.

The Wind Ensemble concert directed by Brian Hamilton is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Conrad Zimmer, a tuba player and music education major, 22, said, “This is my first time accompanying the Wind Ensemble band, and I am really enjoying it.”

Prices for performances vary. For the symphony, LBCC students, employees and senior citizens, the price was $5 in advance and $7 at the door, while general cost was $10 in advance and $12 at the door. The event was free to high school students with a valid ID.

The box office will open one hour before the performance and tickets may be purchased in advance by calling OvationTix, (866) 811-4111, between 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Eastern time. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
