The men’s volleyball team will host El Camino on Friday, March 27, at 6 pm. The Vikings stand at 8-4 overall.

The team is returning from a victory over Los Angeles Trade Tech, on Friday, March 20, but suffered a 3-0 loss to Santa Barbara on Wednesday.

LBCC freshman opposite hitter Charles Belvin said, “It was a very up and down game. Santa Barbara was able to maintain their momentum, but unfortunately we couldn’t keep up. I feel we haven’t been that consistent this season. Focusing on beating the team isn’t always the focus. We have to change that up.”

Early-season mistakes along with a few recent missteps have placed the Viking squad in a tricky situation.

Sophomore setter Rupert Scott said, “These next games coming up are huge. Losing is not something we can afford if we want to make it to playoffs.”

Sophomore libero Adam Wadley said, “It’s a tough road ahead. It comes down to being one as a team and playing stronger with each minute.”

The young team has 13 freshman and three sophomores.

Sophomore outside hitter Alfonso Mata said, “If everyone plays their position and just that position, I think we should be OK. It’s only when we start to lose our focus is when things sometimes go downhill. It’s a rough situation, but we’ve played great games.”
