The LBCC Spring dance concert will be in the Auditorium of the LAC and has been scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17. A matinee performance will be Sunday May 18 at 2 p.m.

Four LBCC dance students were selected by dance teacher Sheree King to choreograph a dance for the event along with the faculty choreographers.

Student choreographer, Sorlie Reeves, 24, a dance theatre major, said he has prepared a “powerhouse” hip hop routine for the 12 members of his group.

“I’m trying to put together something appealing for the audience and something fun for the dancers.”

He is hoping his dance will inspire a future hip-hop crew on campus.

Eleven dance numbers have been produced. King said, “It will have a wide variety of pieces for everybody’s taste.”

Erica Hawkins, 28, an anthropology and dance major, has choreographed the occasion twice and has danced it several times.

She has produced a piece entitled “Your Death Is Mine” in memory of friends who have committed suicide. “Some dancers will represent angels to help the living and deceased characters move on.”

Online tickets are available at lbcc.edu/tdf. General admission is $15. Students, senior citizens and employees admission is $10.

At the door, general admission is $17. Students, senior citizens and employees admission is $12.
