As of early Wednesday, April 9, the preliminary votes for LBCC Board of Trustees for Area 5 of the LBCC Board of Trustees put Virginia Baxter in the lead with 55.3% and Gregory Slaughter at 44.7%. Area 3 candidate Sunny Zia leads with 59.9% over Stella Ursua who had received 40% of the vote. Area 1 Trustee Jeff Kellogg leads with 55.1%, followed by Marshall Blesofsky with 44.9% of the vote.

Meanwhile for Long Beach mayor, former LBCC teacher and manager Robert Garcia leads in preliminary voting with 26.5%, Damon Dunn had 21.5%, Bonnie Lowenthal carried 19.5%, former LBCC Trustee Gerrie Schipske received 15.2% and LBCC Trustee Doug Otto was fifth in the 10-person field with 13.3%.
Also, LBCC Trustee Roberto Uranga inched closer to avoiding a runoff in the 7th District Long Beach City Council race. He had 49.5% of the vote against three distant challengers.
